Upper Dolpo trekking

Dolpo trekking region glimpses a part of Tibet as the site has been abode to the Tibetans from that time when the current Upper dolpo region used to be a part of Tibet. People have almost been similar from the time to present age. Little to very few influenced by the modernization and flow of current world, the dolpo region is a visit – worth place of western Nepal. Below, we have given an itinerary which bases general trekking trial of the route though there are plenty of options to be here in Dolpo.

Upper Dolpo trekking itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu. Drive from Airport to the hotel. Airport pick up by our representatives. Evenings are generally allowed free to visit around at your own.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu. The sightseeing in Kathmandu on this day includes sightseeing in Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square etc. overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. The 55 minute flight to Nepalgunj leads you to some lowlands of Nepal. Upon arrival, check in the hotel and overnight.

Day 04: Fly from Nepalgunj to Jumla followed by trek to Gothi Choure. The spectacular flight to Jumle is followed by a trek along rice terraces, irrigation canals, forests, and valleys. Upon arrival in Gothi Chour, free time to rest of visit around the places. Overnight ( 2780 mtrs ).

Day 05: Trek from Gothi Chour to Napakona. The Buddhist village of Napakona has its traditional human civilization with mixed culture of Buddhist and Hinduism. The Prayer flags through the trail make it a dominant Buddhist valley though there are both Hindus and Buddhists. Overnight in Napakona ( 3000 mtrs).

Day 06: Trekking from Napakona to Chourikot. Walk through the misex forest of Birch and Oak. You will encounter a number of Yak herds on your trail carrying goods from Kilometers away, including yours sometimes. Overnight in Chourikot ( 3100 mtrs).

Day 07: Trekking from Chourikot to Gai kau. You will pass through the walnut forests covering almost much of the trail on this day. Mainly, the trees here are used by the villagers for cooking fuel in daily life. Overnight in Gai Kau ( 2619 mtrs )

Day 08: Trekking from Gai Kau to Toijem. You will enter the Phoksundo National Park, the trail passes through the Bheri River. Overnight in Toijem ( 2910 mtrs )

Day 09: Trekking from Toijem to Kagmara La. This days trail is a tough ascent to the Kag mara La pass. Overnight in Kagmara La ( 4249 mtrs.)

Day 10: Trekking from Kag Mara La to Lasa. The narrow valley trail passing through a series of waterfalls in this trail makes the wonderful trail long yet spectacular. Overnight in Lasa (4150 mtrs.)

Day 11: Trekking to Pungmo. A tough climb to the Kagmara Glacier to the pass followed by a descent to the Pungmo Khola valley. Sceneries available from here are just incredible. Overnight in Pungmo (3050 mtrs )

Day 12: Trekking from Pungmo to Phoksundo Lake. This is very interesting day, as you will see the wonders of nature on this particular day in Nepal. First you will encounter with the Highest waterfall of Nepal, the Suli Gad Waterfall, which is over 167 mtrs as well as the Phoksundo Lake, Nepal’s deepest. The Ringmo village stands to the other shore of the Lake, small yet beautiful lake decorated with Bonpo Culture. The Chortens, Mani walls, Gompas all make this small village beautiful. Overnight (3600 mtrs).

Day 13: Trekking to Ganda La base camp. Leave the Phoksundo Lake and along a long steep climb pass through lush pasture. Thorn bushes and bogs may disturb your way, just avoid. Overnight in Ganda La Base camp ( 4650 mtrs ).

Day 14: Trekking to Shey Gompa. This is a tough day, climb the Ganda La pass (5400 mtrs), the pass is high yet from the top, spectacular views are available. Climb down to stay overnight at shey Gompa ( 4400 mtrs )

Day 15: Acclimatization day in Shey Gompa. Overnight.

Day 16: Trekking from Shey Gompa to Sela La. Sela La is a high pass to be crossed in this trip. Hike from Shey Gompa to Cross the pass ( 5100 mtrs ) overnight in Nangmu Khola ( 4000 mtrs ).

Day 17: An Acclimatization day in Nangmu Khola.

Day 18: Trekking from Nangmu Khola to Jeng La Base camp. A preparation walk to cross the Jeng La on following day. Overnight in Jeng La base camp ( 4300 mtrs )

Day 19: Cross the Jeng La pass (5100 mtrs) on this day, trek to Tok Khyu. Overnight in Tok Khyu ( 4200 mtrs )

Day 20: Trekking to Dho- Tarap. The Tarap valley is wonderful village whrere barley is grown at high extent. The beautifully settled isolated villaged with Gompas make is a wonderful valley. Overnight in Tarap Valley ( 4020 mtrs )

Day 21: Trekking from Tarap valley to Chheur, overnight in Chheur ( 3510 mtrs )

Day 22: Trek to Tarkot. Overnight in Tarkot ( 2500 mtrs )

Day 23: Trek to Juphal. Overnight in Juphal ( 2450 mtrs )

Day 24 : Fly to Nepalgunj – Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu ( 1350 mtrs )

Day 25: Free day in Kathmandu.

Day 26: Departure.
