Nagarkot

 

Nagarkot, a hill stop very near to the Kathmandu valley is a popular tourist venue famous for the mountain views as well as the sunrise and sunset views available from here. An around 1 and half drive from Kathmandu along the beautiful landscapes following the villages and hills takes you to the most pleasing spot of Nagarkot from where you can see the Himalayan range of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Everest and all Langtang Range.On clear weather, from the view tower located southeast of Nagarkot, the sunrise views are just panoramic. The sunrise from Nagarkot is one of the best in the world. There are also some hotels, from where you don’t need to go to the view point to see the sunrise as well as mountain views which are located at the top of Nagarkot. On clear nights without fog, you can even enjoy the lightening of Kathmandu valley. 
 
There are options to go for a trek, visit the villages around and ride pony / horse from Nagarkot. Chisapani, a famous hillstop in the Helambu trekking region can be accessed with an around 4 hours walk up from Nagarkot. You may also wish to hike down to Sankhu, a famous village north of Kathmandu valley.
