Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Buddha. The origination of Buddhist have had a history which dates back 25 centuries ago in the southern edged disctrict of Kapilbastu, the then Kapilbastu kingdom where Queen Mayadevi is said to have given birth to Siddharth Goutama who later renowned to be Lord Buddha; the beginner of Buddhism. He is said to have lived in Lumbini till his age of 29 years.
The UNESCO listed world heritage site of Lumbin concludes of numerous temples, including the Mayadevi Temple dedicated to the mother of Lord Buddha, Mayadevi. A number of temples are under construction here in Lumbini. The Purkarini, holy lake where Lord Buddha is said to have had his first bath is of another importance which lies just at the base of the Bodhi Tree. A stone here marks the exact birthplace of Lord Buddha. The Ashokan Pillar, often referred as Ashoka Stupa, is the construction by Indian imperor Ashoka at his visit the the holy place of Lumbini. Many monasteries, temples, prayer flags all make Lumbini a heritage holy place worth to visit.
