Katmandu: 
Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal is touristically very popular place due numerous temples, monuments, palace complexes and heritage sites located inside the valley. The only international airport, Tribhuwan International Airport lies in Kathmandu valley. Major Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage sites located inside the Kathmandu valley are visited each year by hundreds of thousands of visitors including the Pashupatinath Temple, the Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Budhanilkantha Temple as well as other important sites listed in the world heritage sites by UNESCO are Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Golden Temple. Kathmandu is the major transit point to most of the trekking destinations of Nepal. Some of the trekking destinations in Langtang region start from Kathmandu itself while most of the tourists visit through Kathmandu for any of the trekking region lying inside Nepal. The major political changes in Nepal have had their effect in tourism, but Kathmandu tourism is ever cool, there are not any recorded harms to the tourists due to any kind of political changes yet in Kathmandu and its territory. Thamel, Downtown Street, a major tourist hub of Kathmandu lies around 13 kms from the international airport. This very place is decorates with all tourist items; guest houses, hotels, tourist shops, travel / trek / raft agencies. Beside thamel, people like to stay in Royal Street, Basantapur, Gaushala (near Pashupatinath Temple), Chabahil (near Boudhanath Stupa), Patan and Bhaktapur.

Nagarkot:
Nagarkot, a hill stop very near to the Kathmandu valley is a popular tourist venue famous for the mountain views as well as the sunrise and sunset views available from here. An around 1 and half drive from Kathmandu along the beautiful landscapes following the villages and hills takes you to the most pleasing spot of Nagarkot from where you can see the Himalayan range of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Everest and all Langtang Range.On clear weather, from the view tower located southeast of Nagarkot, the sunrise views are just panoramic. The sunrise from Nagarkot is one of the best in the world. There are also some hotels, from where you don’t need to go to the view point to see the sunrise as well as mountain views which are located at the top of Nagarkot. On clear nights without fog, you can even enjoy the lightening of Kathmandu valley. There are options to go for a trek, visit the villages around and ride pony / horse from Nagarkot. Chisapani, a famous hillstop in the Helambu trekking region can be accessed with an around 4 hours walk up from Nagarkot. You may also wish to hike down to Sankhu, a famous village north of Kathmandu valley.
