Helambu trekking Nepal

This trekking region is very near to Kathmandu. It is best suited for trekkers with short span of visiting time yet with interest to explore around the villages and series of mountain views. The trek route generally starts with half an hour drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. Is passes through the hidden path of Chisapani along the Rhododendron and fir forests. This is in addition, an ideal medication site for the Lama’s. Dominantly Buddhist religion followed by the localities of this region, an exploration of Buddhist culture, lifestyles is a point of interest. A series of monasteries resemble the Buddhist locality, in some of which the international tourists may not be allowed to enter. The trekking route offers a diverse people, culture, nature, villages. Some of the important villages you will pass through the trekking route are: Sermathang, Kutumsang, Tharkeghyang, Melamchi etc. Locally built buildings are made available for the accommodation of international tourists and the local are so kind to offer the best services.

Helambu trekking itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu. Drive from Airport to the hotel. Airport pick up by our representatives. Evenings are generally allowed free to visit around at your own.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu. The sightseeing in Kathmandu on this day includes sightseeing in Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square etc. overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Sundarijal, trek to Chisapani. This is the place from where River Bagmati is Originated which flows through Kathmandu valley. From Sundarijal, hike to Chisapani, a hillstop in Helambu region. From Chisapani, there are panoramic views available for tourists of the snow capped mountains standing giant to the north. Overnight in Chisapani ( 2165 mtrs )

Day 04: Trek from Chisapani to Kutumsang. The way is steep and eroded, passing through a series of Rhodondren forests. In spring, the trail is really romantic with all the flowers blooming. Overnight in Kutumsang ( 2470 mtrs )

Day 05: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati. This day’s trail is almost similar to the previous day. The villages are winter settlements of Residents of Upper Helambu region. Overnight in Tharepani Bhanjyang ( 3690 mtrs )

Day 06: Trekking from Tharepati to Melamchi Gaun. Walk through the forests of Pine and Rhodondren to reach Melamchi Gaun whilst exploring the magnificent views of Jugal Himal, Number himal etc. Melamchi gaun is a Buddhist cultured beautiful village. Overnight in Melamchi Gaun ( 2530 mtrs ).

Day 07: Trekking from Melamchi Gaun to Tharke Ghyang. Trek to another settlement of Tharke Ghyang where Buddhism blooms itself within Sherpa communities. Overnight in Tharke Ghyang (2600 mtrs )

Day 08: Trek to Sermathang. Trek to another Sherpa Buddhist village of Sermathang through a trail passing through series of forests belonging Oak and Rhodondren. You will see the breathtaking views of Mt. Rolwaling, Shisha pangma, Langtang and many other peaks. Stay overnight in Sermathang. ( 2590 mtrs )

Day 09: Trek to Melamchi. On this day, pass through forests, a continued landscapes and fields to reach the Melamchi. Overnight in Melamchi (870 mtrs)

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu. On this day, drive to Kathmandu through the road passing along a series of landscapes, green hills. Overnight in Kathmandu (1350 mtrs)

Day 11: Free time to rest in Kathmandu. Shopping the whole day.

Day 12: Departure.
